October 2016: SMDG elects new chairman and secretary general
During the SMDG meeting #68 in Hamburg on October 5th, 2016, Bruis van Driel was elected chairman and Arthur Touzot was elected secretary general replacing Simon Spoormaker and Gerry Endenburg, who will retire.
May 2015: SMDG installed VGM subgroup.
The SOLAS amendments, Chapter VI, Part A, Regulation 2, concerning Verified Gross Mass of containers (VGM) will become effective in July 2016. SMDG installed a VGM subgroup working on amendments for BAPLIE and Container Messages with regard to EDI transmission of information related to VGM.
APRIL 2016: VERMAS message structure approved by UN/CEFACT. VERMAS MIG version 1.0 will be the final and stable version of the MIG of this message with the new and official codes, allocated by the UN/CEFACT at the end of April.
